The Night Before Christmas

I always loved this poem as a child - it instilled such wonder and excitement - Santa Clause was coming to town!!!! I still take great pleasure in reading this to my grandchildren, although there are only three really little ones that still believe in Santa. The grins on their faces and the yelps and squeals of shear delight and joy when they tear into a gift and it is exactly what they wanted! Watching them rush away from the yet unopened gifts to play with their new toy. There is just nothing that compares with a child's innocence. I look forward to it every year.

My doorbell rang early this morning and as I went to see who the early caller was a car was taking off from in front of my house. It took me a moment to realize that it was my sister, Beverly, sprinting away from the house. She had left behind an envelope addressed to me. The contents brought tears to my eyes. The memories came flooding back of my Dad. He always dressed up as Santa Clause and visited neighborhood children on Christmas Eve. He was a great Santa!! Inside the envelope was a picture that Beverly had taken of Daddy's Santa costume spread out on his bed..hat,gloves and all as if he was wearing it. Even had a candy cane in the glove. Along with it was a check from the proceeds of his estate. Although the check will be useful to me it is not the check that I'm excited about. It is the wonderful picture of Daddy's Santa suit and the memories that go along with it.Much thanks to Beverly for including that picture.

I literally just burst into tears reading this. Funny that this is what you wrote because I am wearing my dime today.
