Thrift-a-holic

Yes, that pretty much describes a passion of mine - THRIFTING!!! I just can't get enough of it! I usually go with a friend or two and enjoy the day searching for treasures. My most recent purchases were nine books of sheet music, vintage lace gloves (excellent condition for $5), picture frames to re-purpose and mats for the frames. I'll use some of the sheet music to cover the mats and make a couple of great collages. I also found a book published in 1950 that my mother had read to us as children. I was especially excited about that. I find that if I don't make a regular visit to either a yard sale or a thrift store I could almost chew my own leg off!! Sounds a little extreme - I know - but I just love a great deal and I find I buy for my friends and family as well as myself. My friends have started giving me their lists because they know I go so often. I always tell them that it is not a special thrift store - just the frequency that I go that produces the best treasures. I have been known to purchase a pair of shoes so that I can remove the embellishments on the shoe in my scrapbooking endeavours. It is usually cheaper than buying the embellishments from a scrapbook specialty shop. I have a box full of ephemera that I have collected for years and am now using to embellish tags, scrapbook pages and frames. I look forward to the spring weather as it is perfect garage sale weather and I'm saving my quarters in my piggy bank so that I'll have plenty of change for my bargains.
